Do You Share Your Works in Progress before publishing?

27 Dec

Writers, do you blog your novels/stories (in the writing stage) before they’re published into a book? I’ve been told the pro is your (potential) reading audience can give you feedback in helping you create a more powerful story. The con is you can find yourself  writing your story for other people–and lose your creativity. What are your thoughts?

I am working on my first short story, so I am just a baby writer. I started my blog in hopes that I would be able to share my drafts as I’m working. You’re right. There are certainly both pros and cons, but as a new writer, I believe the pros will outweigh the cons. I hope that when I start blogging my drafts I will be able to get feedback from strangers, which is always more valuable than the feedback you get from your loving family.

    Thanks ehallen27.

It seems many people do post their writings. There are plenty of knowledgeable writers in the WordPress world. As you read and follow other people’s blogs, they too will read and follow yours–you will get feedback. I enjoy reading other people’s works. I sneak in blog reading whenever I get a spare minute. I’m going to start posting my stuff soon. I’m going to follow you so I can read your works.

    Good luck on your writing.

    Sincerely,

    Janet
